Shady Glen Julian has always been one of my absolute favourite stallions since first meeting him at the Shady Glen Stud during their first open day and sale. We were very fortunate to be able to offer Julian a retirement home where he will cover a small number of quality mares and bring his wonderful bloodlines to our stud. We thank Jim Miller from Glorydoon Shetland Stud for allowing us to lease this wonderful old gentleman.
Julian is a wonderful example of the Shetland breed. He is very solidly built with fantastic bone and feather, and a mass of mane and tail. He has a lovely short and broad head, with a broad muzzle, large eye and small pony ears. Julian has had a very successful show career with the highlight being awarded Supreme Champion Shetland Exhibit at the 2002 Sydney Royal Easter Show (for breeders G&C Barrett ~ pic above), which was also the first International Shetland Show held in Australia.
Due to his show career Julian has only been used very sparingly at stud but has produced several lovely ponies including the lovely Shady Glen Jacqueline. He is one of only four foals from by the imported mare Wells Valetta. Valetta's other son Rainbow Park Star Wells was also a Royal Supreme Champion (Brisbane Royal 1996, Sydney Royal 1998). Julian covered three mares in the 2007 stud season including our Jenssel Park Bonita and we are looking forward to their arrival in spring.
Julian may be at stud to a limited number of approved mares. Please email for more details. New photos will be added soon.

Butterfield Krackerjack came to us from Adi-Amon Stud in South Australia in August 2007. He had already enjoyed great success in the show ring culminating in being awarded the High Point AMPS Colt in SA for the 2006-2007 season. Unfortunately Krackerjack missed his 2yo season due to the Equine Influenza outbreak but he will join our show team this season.
Krackerjack brings to our stud a double cross of the Blue Meadow Fury bloodline that we love. He is a very solid colt with good bone, strong hindquarter and a lovely neat head. He is by the lovely stallion Shanusti Ranger out of one of the most well performed small mares in the past few years, Shanusti Dianna. As well as being a multi supreme-champion, Dianna has produced several other champion offspring including Butterfield Di-namite, Butterfield Ellusion, and Butterfield Bridget. Krackerjack will cover two of our small mares next season.
Krackerjack's performances include -
Champion AMPS Stallion/Colt - Balaklava Ag 2006
Double Champion AMPS Colt - Globe Derby Special Show 2006
Champion and Supreme Miniature Pony - Murray Bridge Ag Show - 2006

Kanimbla Blackwatch is a recent addition to the stud and is owned in conjunction with Woodview Shetland Stud. He is a tiny 81cm with good bone and plenty of mane, tail and feather. He has a lovely chiselled head with large eyes and tiny pony ears. Blackwatch has a friendly and placid nature and has been an absolute gentleman to run with his mares.
Despite only having limited opportunities at stud, Blackwatch has produced some lovely ponies including the well-performed Collandie Park Annabell. He has covered a selection of our mares her in NSW as well as The Golden Meadow Chloe in Victoria. His first foals for our stud will be arriving in late September 2008.
Blackwatch may be at stud to a limited number of approved small mares. New photos will be added soon.
